The earlier I can try it is this weekend. Time to bring another level of realism to X Plane 11, this time with real time and real world weather I take a look at the XPGFS NOAA Weather Plugin, showin. Real-world weather is provided by hourly METAR reports that cover the entire world, while real world winds are available only in the United States with data provided by NOAA.

Obviously just a guess on my part, but Laminar has become much more sensitive to the needs of third party developers lately.Īll this said, I haven't used FSGRW yet, so I have no first-hand knowledge. Experience weather like never before in your simulator FS Global Real Weather provides the most realistic simulation of real world weather conditions for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, FSX and Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D to date. The easy-to-use FS Global Real Weather engine for P3D v4 takes weather data from 24,000+ stations on land and at sea and provides correct real upper and lower air winds, correct cloud types, compatibility with ATC and AI traffic, clear air turbulence and turbulence in/around clouds, historic weather conditions, Flight Planner, Weather Reports and more.

If so, they may be the same thing which will allow the upcoming SMP3 to draw clouds out to 200 km. Same goes with the real world weather in X Plane 11. Given the minimum version for using FSGRW is 10.41, which was just released, I wonder if Laminar has added those datarefs to the sim. If I load the weather from FS Global into the sim, it shows the correct wind for a brief moment, before it abruptly changes back to wind calm, no matter where I fly. The XPlane SDK does NOT allow you to set weather within the only lets you set GLOBAL weather. The only way to overcome this is to reload the weather a lot more often.

You can see this during the sudden weather transitions when new weather loads. While the METAR data for the airport you start at can be good, X-Plane's interpolation of the data at an airport ten miles away can be off, and the further you fly the worse it becomes. While this is true, I've found that the interpolation often leaves a lot to be desired. That is, the weather 2 miles east of your present position can be different than the weather in your present position.

X-Plane 10's native weather engine supports multiple weather systems being loaded simultaneously. Real Weather Connector Experience weather in X-Plane like never before Produced by Sundog Software, Real Weather Connector is the add-on you need to make your weather look super realistic (literally) when using SkyMaxx Pro v4.
